"Differentiation is Survival and the Universe Wants You to be Typical" – Jeff Bezos

Jeff Bezos wrote an inspirational letter to his shareholders is 2021, which really resonated with me. Here it is for context:

In recent years, my family has deeply valued authenticity. It has become clear that being authentic is something that is not easy. In my experience, when being my most authentic self, I experience a subconscious force to become "more typical". My humor may come off as too weird, or my habits are different than my peers, or I feel inclined to dress a certain way.

Jeff Bezos take on differentiation is refreshing, in the way that it not only acknowledges the importance of authenticity, but the conscious effort that maintaining it takes. Its never easy, but its worth it.
